A Beginner’s Guide To CBD

Full-Spectrum VS. CBD Isolate

Learning about CBD is a journey of self discovery, of gaining knowledge then applying that with your own personal experience of using it. Whether you have tried CBD products directly or have studied it thoroughly, you have likely observed the effects of CBD.

But we’ve seen a huge explosion of people embracing what CBD is, how your body uses it and which products might be best for them. Our goal is to educate Canadians on all aspects of CBD, so they can make their own choice of how to best incorporate it into their daily routines.

When learning about CBD, you will find that there are actually two main types of CBD products. This is because the extraction process from hemp plants results in two key forms of CBD: Full-Spectrum and CBD Isolate.

Before discussing the specifics, let’s first review the basic understanding of what CBD is.

What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural compound found in hemp plants, which are a type of cannabis plant with less than 0.03% THC (the compound responsible for the “high” effect). Unlike marijuana plants, which have a high percentage of THC, hemp-derived CBD products don’t contain significant amounts of THC so they can’t get you high.

Cannabinoids like CBD are naturally produced by the body’s endocannabinoid system and supplementing with plant-based CBD we can get access to greater benefits like for sleep, mood, memory, appetite, pain management, stress, and more.

The versatility and potential benefits of hemp-derived CBD make it a remarkable wellness supplement. And now, let’s explore CBD oil in depth.

What Is CBD Oil?

When hemp plants reach maturity, they are harvested for their oil, which can be extracted from two different parts of the plant. Hemp seed oil is derived from the seeds and has its own beneficial properties, such as being a good source of omega-3s and for its moisturizing properties that make it suitable for skin care products.

CBD oil, on the other hand, is extracted from the buds, leaves, and stalks of the hemp plant and contains a high concentration of cannabinoids, including CBD. When purchasing a CBD product, it is made from hemp-derived CBD oil.

The differences between Full-Spectrum CBD, and CBD Isolate refer to the number of extraction processes used in removing the oil from the hemp plant.

What Is Full-Spectrum CBD?

Full-Spectrum CBD is a type of CBD that contains all the cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, including CBD, CBG, CBN, a small amount of THC (less than 0.3%, so it won’t get you high), and other cannabinoids. It also includes the terpenes and flavonoids found in the hemp plant.

When all these cannabinoids are taken together, they produce a phenomenon known as the Entourage Effect. This means that the different cannabinoids don’t work independently, but instead they enhance each other’s effects, providing a deeper level of therapeutic benefits. For this reason, Full-Spectrum CBD is often preferred over other types of CBD, especially if drug testing is not a concern.

This type of CBD is used in some of our most popular products, including our CBD Gummies, Vapes & Oils. In general, Full-Spectrum CBD products the greatest benefits as they contain the most complete range of cannabinoids.

What Is CBD Isolate?

When hemp plants reach maturity, they are harvested for their oil, which can be extracted from two different parts of the plant. Hemp seed oil is derived from the seeds and has its own beneficial properties, such as being a good source of omega-3s and for its moisturizing properties that make it suitable for skin care products.
